CBI director, CVC meet PM over Lokpal Bill issue

New Delhi, Dec 14: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Director AP Singh and Central Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) Pradeep Kumar met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in Parliament to discuss the Lokpal bill.

According to media reports, CBI head AP Singh urged PM to ensure that the autonomy of the investigating agency is protected. Sources also said that CBI is willing to accept the Lokpal as its head but the ombudsman must then be body with supervisory powers over the CBI. Moreover, CVC Pradeep Kumar pointed out Anna Hazare's demand and said that CBI was set up with the Supreme Court directive.

Meanwhile, main Opposition party, Bharatiya Janta Party(BJP) demanded the inclusion of CBI under the ambit of Lokpal Bill. Government has already included CBI's prosecution power under Lokpal bill but both opposition and Team Anna demanded the CBI's investigation wing to be brought under Lokpal bill.
