Rajiv Gandhi's assailant's mom demands new trial

Chennai, Aug 14: Following the death sentence of one of the accused in Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, the mother of Perarivalan demanded a retrial, alleging her son had been framed. She also further showed her guts by saying that she would challenge the rejection of mercy petition by President Pratibha Patil in the court.

Arputham Ammal asserted that her son Perarivalan was framed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). According to Ammal's demand if the rpime accused, Nalini's death sentence could be commuted, then why the similar thing not being applied for her son, who had already been behind the bars for 20 years.

She said she would seek Tamil Nadu chief minister J.Jayalalithaa's help to save her son from the gallows.

On other hand, the civil society members and the Tollywood directors, have also requested the State government to pass a resolution in the Assembly to save the life of Perarivalan who was sentenced to death in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.
