Uttarakhand village near China border lacks basic facilities

Mana (Uttarakhand), May 31 (ANI): Uttarakhand's Mana village bordering China is one of the favoured tourist destinations, but lacks basic facilities like proper housing and roads and has poor connectivity too.

"Though it is a beautiful place, but no proper and basic facilities are provided by the government here. The connectivity is very poor; all the roads are broken," said Sunil Kumar Mittal, a tourist.

"This village borders China and they have train facility their, but no such facility is provided by the government here," he added.

Mana is emerging as a tourist destination as many devotees visiting Badrinath come here to enjoy its beauty.

But tourists and locals said that inspite of repeated requests to the government; no development work has taken place.

Government officials, however, said they have formulated many schemes for the upliftment of the village and will provide villagers as well as the tourists all facilities.

"Mana village has been declared a tourist destination. We have proposed schemes for proper connectivity of this village with other parts of the country and for construction of roads here," said Uttarakhand Tourism Minister Madan Kaushik.

"We have decided to bring this village under the category of village tourism schemes. Villagers will also be provided with better houses," he added. (ANI)
