Gadkari to assume BJP chief's office on Dec 19

Nagpur, Dec 18: Nitin Gadkari, who is all set to take over as the new Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president, will assume office in Delhi on Saturday afternoon, Dec 19.

Speaking to reporters, Gadkari said, "I will take over as the new BJP national president at 3:30 pm after the formal declaration."

The BJP Parliamentary Board will meet on Saturday, Dec 18, where the president Rajnath Singh is expected to formally announce his decision to quit from the post.

52-year-old Gadkari said he would seek the blessings of veteran party leader and former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee soon after assuming the charge.

He said he would be leaving for Delhi on Saturday morning, Dec 19 and return to the city on Dec 20. He would address media in Nagpur on Dec 24.
