Gilani's 'stuck-record' K-rant, says friendship with India impossible without resolution

Islamabad, Sep.30 (ANI): Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, it seems, makes a special mention in his diary that he has to rake up the Kashmir issue in each of his speeches, as he has once again linked friendly relations with India to the resolution of the Kashmir issue.

Addressing a public gathering in Pakistan occupied Kashmir's Gilgit, Gilani said 'good relations' with India were not possible without the settlement of the Kashmir issue.

"We want good relations with all our neighbours - be it China, India, Afghanistan or Iran. But we want these relations based on equality. We are an atomic power. Without a resolution to the Kashmir issue, good relations with India are not possible," The Daily Times quoted Gilani.

He reiterated that the long pending issue should be resolved according to the aspirations of the people of Kashmir.

Announcing a massive development package for Gilgit-Baltistan, Gilani said the government has allocated 870 million rupees for the development of health services in the region.

"You will witness a well-established effective communication network, attractions for tourists, massive tree plantation and an efficient and modern police force in the area," he said.

Gilani also announced that the Skardu and Gilgit airport would be developed and upgraded and added that a housing colony would be built for journalists based in the region. (ANI)
