Govt for amending Atomic Energy Act to increase pvt participation
New Delhi, Oct 21 (UNI) Prime Minister's Special Envoy on Climate Change Shyam Saran today said the government is contemplating to amend the Atomic Energy Act to allow majority ownership for private sector investors in nuclear trade.
''We are considering to amend the Atomic Energy Act...We have to look at the legal framework,'' Mr Saran told reporters on the sidelines of 'Interactive Session on Climate Change: India's Opportunities' organised by FICCI.
The government is also considering to set up a Regulatory Committee, he said.
Industry body Ficci also urged the government to amend the Atomic Energy Act so that the country can realise its potential to generate 60,000 MW of nuclear power by 2030.
