punjab cadre ias officer attempts to commit suicide

Chandigarh, Oct 20 (UNI) A senior IAS officer of the Punjab cadre tried to commit suicide at his sector 39 residence here this evening Mr A S Chhatwal tried to hang himself from a celing fan at his residence. However, he was pulled down by a relative in the house and was rushed to the PGI, where he is still admitted.

According to police sources,the reason for the suicide was still not known. Mr Chhatwal is secretary, science and technology and non-conventional energy.
