CM orders procurement of paddy with 20 pc moisture

Chennai, Oct 4 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today ordered procurement of paddy even with 20 per cent moisture content during the Kuruvai season.

This followed representations from Cauvery delta farmers, who had urged the government to procure paddy with 20 per cent moisture content as the procurement period was in the rainy season, an official release here said.

Accepting their plea, the Chief Minister directed the State Civil Supplies Corporation to procure paddy with 20 per cent moisture content with effect from today, the release added.
