Man tries to chop off his own arm over air in veins scare!
Melbourne, Sept 2 : A man tried to chop off his own arm in the middle of a California restaurant after becoming convinced that he had injected air into his veins.
According to the police, Michael Lasiter, 33, had been shooting cocaine in a motel room but believed he had accidentally got air in his bloodstream, which could lead to death, reports the Daily Telegraph.
He thought cutting off his arm was the only way to save his life so he ran into a nearby restaurant and grabbed a butter knife from a customer's table.
He started stabbing himself repeatedly with the butter knife in the right arm near the biceps but when that didn't work, he ran into the kitchen, grabbed a butcher knife and started sawing frantically at his limb.
Police Sergeant Brian Findlen said Lasiter told officers who intervened that he thought he needed to amputate his arm to keep himself from dying from the cocaine injection.
Lasiter was rushed to a hospital for treatment of severe cuts.
