HJS condemns Swami Laxmanananda killing, demands CM's resignation
Bhubaneswar, Aug 24 (UNI) The Orissa unit of the Hindu Jagaran Samukhya (HJS) today condemned the killing of Swami Laxmanannada and four others and demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for failing to give protection to the Swami.
HJS state president Ashok Sahu, while demanding a CBI inquiry into the incident, called for Orissa bandh tomorrow to protest the ''cold-blooded murder by dalit militant Christians.'' Ruling out the involvement of Maoists in the attack as claimed by state Director General of Police Gopal Nanda, the HJS chief demanded that the DGP should quit as the police leadership had allegedly failed to tackle the growing militancy in the state.
''If the matter is not handed over to the CBI, all Hindus would take to the streets and the state government would be responsible for the consequences,'' Mr Sahu said.
He also lambasted the Judicial inquiry ordered by the Chief Minister, stating that there had been enough judicial inquiries in the past.
The Chief Minister, the HJS chief said, had no moral right to continue in power as he failed to protect the life of an 84-year-old leader, who had repeatedly sought protection, as he had allegedly received threats to his life in the past.
