Shetty blames Mah Govt for lower sugar production

Kolhapur, Aug 23 (UNI) Swabhimani Shetakari Sanghtana (SSS) founder and MLA Raju Shetty today alleged that there will be lower sugar production this financial year due to lesser cane plantation and wrong policies adopted by the Maharashtra government.

Mr Shetty made this observation while addressing the farmers to mark the conclusion of his 'Nirdhar' rally at Bindu chowk here this evening. The rally had started from Nashik in support of the Sanghatana's demands which include clearance of 7/12 agriculture land record and waiver on loans.

The Union Government announced Rs 60,000 crore package towards farmers debt waiver, however, its benefits have not reached the farmers as yet, he charged.

Mr Shetty appealed to the farmers to get themselves united and fight for their demand of better price to the cane crop during the forthcoming crushing season.

He added that his Sanghatana will not stop agitation till the farmers get proper price for their crops.
