PMK farmers' wing demands on sugarcane
Tiruchirapalli,Aug 18 (UNI) The farmers wing of the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) sought Rs 1,550 for every tonne of sugarcane as renumerative price.
A resolution was adopted at the Tamil Nadu Ulavar Periyakkam meeting held here yesterday, according to its General Secretary Nallasamy.
In a press release here today, he said the meeting also urged the government to convene a tripartite meeting and solve the grievances of sugarcane growers.
Some of the other demands include disbursement of 75 per cent of the sugar plant's profit to farmers supplying case as per the Bargava Committee's recommendation and distribution of profits from power generated by the plant from molassis and byproducts of sugarcane to the ryots.
