Truck runs over worker in mill premises

Barrackpore, Aug 11 (UNI) A 30-year old worker of Nafar Chand Jute Mill at Kankinara in North 24 Parganas was run over by a container truck in the mill premises.

Police said here today that the mishap occurred when a container truck ran over the victim, Amarjit Rajbhar, who was sleeping by the side of a road inside the mill premises late last night. The worker died on the spot.

The incident evoked workers' unrest in the mill this morning while police had to resort lathicharge to disperse the mob.

A police contingent had been deployed in the mill premises, police said, adding that the body had been sent for post-mortem.
