Unorganised workers to get biometric identity cards
Gandhinagar, Aug 6 (UNI) Gujarat government will issue biometric identity cards to workers of unorganised sector after making a comprehensive survey of such workers in the state.
According to a past survey by National Sample Survey Organisation, there are around 3 lakh domestic workers and 2.80 lakh street vendors in the state.
According to the survey, in 2004-2005 there were 2.50 crore workers in the state. Out of these, 2.07 crore workers were in non-organised sector, 1.50 crore workers in agriculture sector and 67 lakh were in non-agro sector.
