Theft of Railway fans rampant in Bihar

Patna, Jul 13 A gang of miscreants has been indulging in rampant thefts of railway fans fitted inside coaches of different mail and express trains while they are shunted in the railway yard at the Rajendra Nagar Terminal for maintenance purposes.

Railway officials said the miscreants had already stolen 60 to 70 fans during the past two months, mostly from the coaches of Patna-Kurla Express, Janasadhran Express, Patna-Mathura Express and many other long distance trains.

Meanwhile, following the frequent disappearance of the amenities, the railways was finding it difficult to manage and provide new fans when the trains were ready for departure from Rajendra Nagar Terminal, the officials said.

Danapur DRM B D Garg admitted that theft of railway fans from Rajendra Nagar Terminal was reported recently.

''The Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel have been directed to check stealth of railway fans from passenger coaches at Rajendra Nagar Terminal. Security has also been tightened in the railway yard to check recurrence of such incidents,'' he added.
