Tree Collapses On School Bus In Chembur, One Student Killed And 10 Injured

A tragic accident unfolded in Mumbai's Chembur on Tuesday after a large tree collapsed onto a school bus, killing one student and leaving at least 10 others injured. The incident took place on Road No. 11, prompting an immediate rescue operation and emergency medical response.

Rescue Operation Underway After Tree Collapse

According to initial reports, 13 children were travelling on the school bus when the tree suddenly fell on the vehicle. The injured students were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment, while rescue personnel rushed to the spot to assist those trapped inside.

Officials said efforts are continuing to rescue one child who remains stuck inside the damaged bus.

Residents Allege Repeated Warnings Were Ignored

Following the incident, local residents claimed they had repeatedly alerted the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) about the condition of trees in the area. They alleged that several requests had been submitted seeking trimming or removal of potentially dangerous trees.

Residents also said a similar incident had occurred in the locality earlier, but despite repeated warnings, no preventive action was taken by the civic authorities.
