Minister lays foundation stone for housing colony

Visakhapatnam, July 13 (UNI) Union Minister for Urban Development S Jaipal Reddy today laid the foundation stone for a Rs 4.89 crore housing colony for the poor people in the city.

Laying the foundation stone, he said the housing project scheme would be completed with in 15 months.

The Centre would release more funds under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JANNURM), which was launched in 2005, he added.

So far the Centre had sanctioned Rs 2,400 crore for the scheme, he said.

He also inagurated a canal built at a cost of Rs 9.21 crore in the city.
