Free uniform, attendance allowance for minority students
Mumbai, Jul 4 (UNI) Maharashtra chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh has asked the authorities to give free uniforms, books and attendance allowance to the children of minority communities with a view to promoting liking for education.
Mr Desmukh's recommendation came during a meeting held to discuss the recommendations made by Mohammad Rahman committee in its interim report about Sachar committee's recommendations. Rehman committee was appointed by the state government.
He said the eudcation material and attendance allowance be given by the Maulana Azad Economic Development Council.
The Chief Minister said 39,500 pre-SSC students from minority communities would be entitled for the scholarship scheme.
Mr Deshmukh also agreed with the suggestion of starting a helpline for the minorities.
