SC orders to remove encroachment from Sanjay Gandhi Park
New Delhi , May 2 (UNI) The Supreme Court today permitted Maharashtra Government to remove the encroachment from Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Mumbai.
Earlier, counsel for the state government pleaded before a bench comprising Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan and Justices R V Raveendran and M K Sharma that the state government was helpless.
It was not in a position to prosecute encroachers and to remove encroachments from the national park in view of the status quo order passed by this court on July 16 last year.
The apex court, however, made it clear that the status quo order should remain in force only in relation to one petiton.
