No consensus over NKC recommendations: Govt
New Delhi, Apr 29 (UNI) There is no consensus in the government over the recommendations of the National Knowledge Commission, the Lok Sabha was informed today.
In its Report of 2006, the Commission had recommended establishment of an Independent Regulatory Authority for higher education and redefining of the role of regulatory bodies such as the University Grants Commission (UGC), All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Medical Council of India (MCI) and the Bar Council of India (BCI).
In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Human Resource Development D Purandeswari said the government was yet to take a final view on NKC recommendations as there was no consensus on its suggestions.
However, she said, a committee has been constituted by the government to review the functioning of the UGC and AICTE.
