Andhra Bank to set up RDI

Tirupati, Apr 26 (UNI) The Tirupati Zone of the Andhra Bank (AB) has decided to set up a ''Rural Development Institute (RDI)'' to provide training facilities to unemployed women and farmers in rural and semi-urban areas, Zonal Deputy General Manager Prasanna Panicker today said.

Launching ''AB Excel-II'', an innovative term deposit scheme carrying nine per cent interest, here, she said the institute would be the tenth in the state.

It would also provide training facilities free-of-cost to Self Help Groups (SHG), unemployed youth and artisans.

The Tirupati Zone comprising Chittoor, Kadapa and Nellore Districts, covering 110 delivery channels, had recorded a business of Rs 3,681 crore by the end of March 2008, registering a growth of 24.69 per cent.
