Kerala Govt failed to contain communal violence: Chandy
Kozhikode, Apr 21 (UNI) The CPI-M led Left Democratic Front (LDF) Government in Kerala had ''miserably failed'' to contain communal violence that claimed four lives in Kasargod district in the State, Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy today said.
Addressing a function at Beypore, near here, he said had the government succeeded in taking prompt action immediately after the violence that erupted on April 14, it could have been prevented from spreading.
Four people were killed and many others injured in retaliatory violence by two groups of people in the northern-most district last week.
On price rise, he also accused the state administration for its ''failure'' to take steps to contain prices of essential commodities.
Kerala was the only State in the country which had not initiated any remedial measures on the issue making the life of the commonman more miserable, he charged.
