IGNOU to launch PG dental courses
New Delhi, Apr 12 (UNI) The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), in collaboration with the Dental Council of India (DCI), is launching two post graduate courses in dental science from July this year in which fresh graduates can apply.
The courses to be launched from July, 2008 are PG certificate in Endodontics and PG certificate in Oral Implantology. The two programmes have been accredited by the Dental Council of India, IGNOU said today.
While each programme is of one year duration (with 30 credits each), there is a flexibility to complete the programme in a maximum duration of three years. Since the programmes are based on open distance learning education mode, the candidates do not have to leave their established practices except for contact programmes.
As there is no age bar, even fresh graduates can apply, the university added.
IGNOU has set up programme study centres in reputed dental colleges which are already running MDS programmes in the two disciplines, to provide practical training to the candidates.
The combined entrance test for admission to the programmes is likely to be held on July one.
