TDP gives notice for no-trust motion

Hyderabad, Mar 27 (UNI) The main opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Andhra Pradesh today gave a notice to the Assembly Secretary for a no-confidence motion against the 46-month-old Rajasekhara Reddy Government, even as ruling Congress maintained that it was ready to face it on the floor of the house.

Undetered by the opposition move a day before the Budget session was to conclude, Legislative Affairs Minister K Rosaiah told reporters that the Government would request Speaker K R Suresh Reddy to take up the motion probably on Monday and allow an extensive debate for two or three days.

Addressing the press, TDP Legislature Party Deputy Leader T Devender Goud said as the Government 'ran away' from a discussion in the House on the alleged corruption under the Congress rule, the party decided to move a no-confidence motion to ''expose the Government's failure on all fronts''.

The Government would face for the first time such a motion, which is bound to be defeated as the ruling Congress enjoyed an overwhelming majority in the House.
