Fire in Chamundi hills destroys forest lands

Mysore, Feb 25 (UNI) A major fire that broke out in the Chamundi hills near here destroyed large tracts of forest lands last night.

According to forest officers, the fire which broke out near the Uttanahalli-Nanjangud road on the Western ridge of the Chamundi hills, destroyed 20 acres of lands.

No loss of property and animals was reported in the incident. It was not clear what caused the fire, they said.

Fire tenders were pressed into service to put out the blaze.
