Sonia to lay foundation stone of Petroleum Institute on Feb 20
Lucknow, Feb 17 (UNI) Congress President Sonia Gandhi along with several senior union ministers will pay a day long visit to her parliamentary constitutency Rae Bareli on February 20.
AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi would also accompany her during the visit, said UP Congress chief spokesperson Akhilesh Pratap Singh here today.
Mr Singh said Gandhi would lay the foundation stone for the ambitious Rajiv Gandhi Petroleum Technology Institute at Bahadurpur in Amethi parliament constituency on the day.
The proposed Institute would be constructed at a cost of Rs 450 crore.
Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram, Union Petroleum Minister Murli Deora, Minister of state for Petroleum Dinsha Patel and minister of state for Finance Pawan Bansal were also expected to participate in the function.
Former union minister Captian Satish Sharma, who is also accompanying Ms Gandhi, had mooted the idea of the Institute when he was the union petroleum minister.
Mr Singh said the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson would also lay the foundation stone for Rajiv Gandhi Computer Training Centre at Rae Bareli and would attend a rural loan distribution camp and address a public meeting before leaving for New Delhi.
