Raipur, Jan 30 (UNI) In the first exercise of its kind in Chhattisgarh, a Kisan Report incorporating various aspects of Chhattisgarh's agriculture and people associated with it is likely to be issued by mid-February.
''The state's rural youth are becoming disillusioned with agriculture. An agriculture empowerment programme is being run by the Chhattisgarh Seeds and Farm Development Corporation with the Horticulture Department's cooperation. Under it, symposia, camps and seminars are being organised at villages,'' Corporation Chairman Chandrashekhar Sahu told UNI.
The first experiment at such empowerment was successfully conducted in Bilaspur district's Ratanpur, Pendra and Marwahi blocks.
''Jimikanda -- that grows naturally in this state's forests -- has several constituents of ethanol. The report will incorporate details of how jimikanda can be commercially utilised besides information on the factual position of sugarcane, pulses and oilseeds,'' Mr Sahu added.
