Dr Kalam invited to speak at Vikramotsav
Ujjain, MP, Jan 15 (UNI) Former president and the father of India's intermediate range ballistic missile programme A P J Abdul Kalam has been invited to deliver an address at the Vikramotsav getting underway in this ancient temple town on April 7.
The country's first woman Indian Police Service officer and Magsaysay-recipient Kiran Bedi was also invited by Navsamvat Navvichar, a local organisation that conducts the event coinciding with the Vikram era's new year.
The decision to invite the Missile Man and Ms Bedi was taken yesterday at a committee meeting chaired by Collector Shivshekhar Shukla and under the guidance of Vikram University Vice-Chancellor Ramrajesh Mishra.
''Programmes will take place until January 14 to mark the beginning of 2065 Vikram Samvat,'' said the organisation's Secretary Dinesh Jain.
Scientist R Chidambaram, senior journalists Prabhash Joshi and Alok Mehta, poet Gopal Das Neeraj, justices Ramesh Garg and D S Dharmadhikari will also be invited to take part in the lecture series.
