Sheikh Nazir Ahmed: NC believes in respecting, advocating political sentiments of people

Srinagar Nov 22: Veteran National Conference Leader Sheikh Nazir Ahmed on Friday said that National Conference was the only political force that could defend Article 370 from any covert machinations that aim to further erode the Article that gives special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

Sheikh Nazir Ahmed asked the people of J&K to use their votes in the coming elections to protect the dignity and honor of J&K. "There are clear indications that BJP has an elaborate political agenda of intruding into J&K's polity and furthering its agenda of doing away with the State's special status once for all.

This is what their mission is about and the tragic reality is that certain individuals and political parties within the State are also supportive of these ambitions just as long as they find their own political rehabilitation from Delhi.

In view of these tacit and destructive alliances on this sensitive issue, it becomes imperative for the people to unite and vote for National Conference to protect the honor and dignity of our State and to safeguard the unimaginable sacrifices we have rendered as a nation for our collective pride and dignity", Sheikh Nazir said.

Ahmed: We don't ask for power because we are power-hungry

Sheikh Nazir said that National Conference believed in respecting and advocating the political sentiments and aspirations of the people of J&K and looks at politics and governance as a medium to serve the people and to voice their sentiments.

"We don't ask for power because we are power-hungry, we ask for your votes because we want to defeat serious intrigues that are being plotted against our State and against Article 370. We ask for your votes because we are committed to serve you and empower you with rights that others want to deprive you from", Sheikh Nazir said.

Sheikh Nazir Ahmed expressed his faith in the indomitable will of the people of Jammu and Kashmir to protect their interests against proposed political onslaughts and conquests that are being planned.
