Travis Head's Wife, Daughter Get Rape Threats; Glenn Maxwell's Spouse Slams Indian Fans

A section of fans have abused the wives of Australian cricketers after the Kangaroos defeated India in the World Cup final on Sunday.

As per the reports, a section of Indian fans targeted Travis Head's wife and daughter with rape and death threats. Also, Glenn Maxwell's wife was also abused by the angry supporters of the Men in Blue.

However, Maxwell's Indian wife Vini Raman has slammed the abusive fans on her Instagram account.

"...aaaaand cue all the hateful vile DMs. Stay classy. Can't believe this needs to be said BUT you can be Indian and also support the country of your birth where you have been raised and more importantly the team your husband plus father of your child plays in #nobrainer. Take a chill pill and direct that outrage towards more important world issues," she wrote in an Instagram post.

The pharmacist of Indian origin attended the match at Narendra Modi Stadium with their newborn son and subsequently shared a series of images. The collection featured snapshots from the match and an endearing video of her husband cradling their infant.

However, this was Australia's sixth World Cup title win after 1987, 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2015.

The Aussies, despite losing against India in the league stage, outperformed the Men in Blue in the final by defeating India by 6 wickets with 7 over to go.

Travis Head was announced the Man of the Match for his outstanding 137 runs.
