One trooper killed in gun battle with Maoists in Jharkhand
Ranchi, June 17: One trooper of the para-military central forces was killed and another injured in a gun battle with Maoist guerrillas in Jharkhand's Giridih district on Friday, June 17 police said.
The contingent of security personnel was on a search operation in Pathhalgada jungle in Giridih district when the confrontation with the Maoist guerillas took place early on Friday, said the police.

The trooper who died in the gun battle and the other who was injured belonged to CoBRA force (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action), a unit of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
The police claimed that some Maoists were also killed but no dead body has been recovered.
Maoist guerrillas are active in 18 of the 24 districts of the state.
