Ten-year-old girl raped in Malda village

was allegedly

by a man in a village of Malda district when she was returning home after attending a wedding in an adjacent village, the police said on Monday.

The victim, daughter of a labourer in Kachiadanga village was returning alone from her grandmother's place yesterday when she was allegedly raped, Additional Superintendent of police Abhishekh Modi said.

Villagers found her lying in an unconscious state and rushed her to Bulbulchadi Health Centre from where she was referred to Malda Medical College and Hospital Medical examination confirmed that she was raped, doctors at the hospital said.

One person was arrested in this connection today, Modi said.
