Same Script, Same Lies: How Hindi Influencers Are Selling Fake Stories in Favour of Tamil Nadu CM Vijay

Internet had often witnessed information related to fake schemes or stories to mislead and deceive people. Here is another set of videos that project Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay as a messiah of women.

Several Hindi-speaking influencers are peddling fictitious "orders" from Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay, projecting him as a no-nonsense strongman straight out of his own films.

It begins with a script. Short, punchy, designed to travel.

"Chief Minister Vijay's decision has shocked Tamil Nadu. He said that regardless of whether a rape victim is eight or 18, is Hindu or Muslim, or hails from Tamil Nadu or other states, the accused will be hanged or encountered." Surprisingly, same words, same dramatic pause and same claim are repeated by a set of influencers, according to a report in India Today.

Another set of influencers is peddling a different story on the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister announcing a full waiver of hospital bills if a patient dies during treatment in a private hospital. Same template. Same modus operandi. Different flavour of outrage.

Only none of it is true.

A senior official from Vijay's office confirmed to India Today Fact Check that both claims are completely false.

These videos are surfacing at a moment when the country has witnessed shameful incidents of gangrape of minors - in Rajasthan's Sri Ganganagar, West Bengal's Baruipur, and Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad. Against that backdrop, the fictional Vijay being sold online is a reassuring figure: a leader who bypasses courts, bypasses bureaucracy, and delivers instant justice.

It's the kind of role Vijay has been playing for years, just not in real life.
