Showcasing a warm, earthy color palette, the collection features various refined Khadi fabrics in pure cotton, wool, and Eri silk, crafted with meticulous care by Khadi Institutions from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and Assam.
Established by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Ministry of MSME, in collaboration with the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), the Centre of Excellence for Khadi (CoEK) stands as a hub of creativity and innovation, dedicated to redefining the essence of Khadi. Working closely with Khadi Institutions across India, CoEK continually explores unique fabrics, apparel, and accessories, expanding Khadi's global allure through imaginative experimentation, branding, and storytelling.
Growing Appreciation For Diverse
According to designer Samant Chauhan, whose captivating presentation unfolded in a delightful collaboration with CoEK - Khadi India, "Russia has a growing appreciation for diverse fashion influences, and we see a strong synergy between Indian craftsmanship and Russian aesthetics. The market presents exciting opportunities for brands that emphasize intricate detailing, sustainable practices, and cultural storytelling-values that define our brand. We believe Indian fashion can find a unique space in Russia, blending heritage with contemporary style".
A noteworthy highlight of Moscow Fashion Week was the stellar display of the rapidly expanding Asian fashion industry and the abundant creative flair of designers hailing from this region. Alongside India, the catwalks featured collections from esteemed brands representing Indonesia, China, Armenia, Tajikistan, and Turkey.
Numerous Asian labels were deeply touched by Moscow Fashion Week's recognition of the cultural heritage, roots, and commitment to sustainability embraced by all participants, "As the only Indonesian designer at this event, I want to showcase Indonesia's cultural identity through designs that combine traditional techniques such as Badui weaving and sustainable fabric manipulation with a classic elegance. I see great potential as Russian consumers are becoming more open to designs that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also environmentally responsible," said Syukriah Rusydi, designer and founder of the Reborn29 by Syukriah Rusydi brand.
At Moscow Fashion Week, alongside talented designers from Asia, attendees were treated to a delightful mix of bright fashion luminaries from the USA, Spain, South Africa, and Russia. The event featured Russian brands and designers from India who presented collections that paid homage to their cultural roots, national traditions, and the beauty of their homeland. Moscow-based designer Galina Podzolko unveiled a collection inspired by the vast landscapes of Russia, adorned with prints of wheat ears and blooming flowers that added a touch of opulence and beauty to the garments. The Zuhat brand elegantly reimagined the historical costumes of the Caucasus Mountains and Oriental influences from a modern perspective. Additionally, Sergey Sysoev's collection beautifully encapsulated the enigmatic artistry of woodworking and painting, skillfully integrated into delightful sundresses and skirts that evoked the charm of traditional folk costumes.
