Narendra Modi, Xi Jinping invited to Nepal for Buddha Jayanti
New Delhi, Apr 29: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping have been invited by Nepal to be a part of the Buddha Jayanti celebrations on May 21.
Nepal has invited a large delegation of leaders from across the world to be a part of the 2,560th birth anniversary of Buddha. Religious leaders are also expected to be present at the event.

Meanwhile, Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar has also been invited as a special guest.
As of now there is no official confirmation on whether Modi and Nitish would attend the event. Reports suggest that it is unlikely that Xi Jinping would attend the event either.
However, officials in the Bihar government confirmed that Nitish had received an official invitation and have said that he would consult with the ministry of external affairs on this.
Officials in the Bihar government said that if Nitish does accept the invitation he may accompany Modi provided that latter invites him to join him.
