Delhi Weather Forecast, 31st May: Heatstrokes And Dust Storms
According to the India Meteorological Department's Regional Centre in Delhi, today is the last wave with heatwave warnings in isolated regions of Delhi, after which the union territory can expect mostly strong winds and occasional storms for the next week or so. Still, readers are advised to be careful of the weather conditions for today and tomorrow, as IMD has put out yellow alerts for both of these days.
Delhi's Average Temperature And Weather Over The Next Week Or So:

Places in North Delhi like Jafarpur, Mungeshpur, Najafgarh, Narela, Pitampura, and Pusa will continue experiencing maximum temperatures between 47°C to 48°C for today, 31 May. Other areas will hover around 45°C for their maximum temperatures. For the rest of the week, though, temperatures are expected to drop as the southwest monsoon has come to different parts of India early.
A press release by IMD states that there will most probably be a gradual drop in temperatures of 2°C - 4°C for the next five days in northwest and central India.
Still, Delhi is not out of the woods yet, as the region may experience dust storms or thunderstorms today, 31 May, and tomorrow, 1 June. There may also be light rain or drizzle accompanied by gusty winds throughout the day. Tomorrow, 2 June, there's a prediction of a thunderstorm accompanied by light rain and gusty winds.
Then, from 3 June till at least 6 June, Delhi is forecast to have mainly clear skies and gusty winds with speeds between 25 km/h to 40 km/h.
IMD's Yellow Alert Warning For The Next Two Days:
Yesterday, Delhi recorded its first official death by heatstroke, as a 40-year old man who belonged to Bihar's Darbhanga district passed away at a Delhi hospital. According to a report by NDTV, the man had a fever of 107°F or 41.6°C.
In order to prevent extreme symptoms from developing due to the heat today, IMD gave the following advice:
1) Avoid heat exposure - keep cool.
2) Avoid dehydration.
3) Drink sufficient water - even if not thirsty.
4) Use ORS, homemade drinks like lassi, torani (rice water), lemon water, buttermilk, etc. to keep yourself hydrated.
IMD also gave a different set of warnings and advice for tomorrow, as the department is worried that the strong winds and dust storms will cause heavy traffic, loss of electricity, and damage to vulnerable structures. They gave the following advice:
1) Check for traffic congestion on your route before leaving for your destination.
2) Follow any traffic advisories that are issued in this regard.
3) Stay away from power lines or electrical wires.
4) Stay indoors, close windows & doors and avoid travel if possible.
5) Take safe shelters; do not take shelter under trees.
6) Do not lie on concrete floors and do not lean against concrete walls.
7) Unplug electrical/ electronic appliances.
