Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Highlights Collaborative Approach of Centre and States in Budget 2026

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta watched the Union Budget 2026-27 speech delivered by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at Tri Nagar, New Delhi, and welcomed the government's strong focus on capital expenditure and development-led growth.

Commenting on the budget, CM Gupta said, "I congratulate Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The allocation of ₹1.4 lakh crore for capital expenditure will help states move forward."

She noted that such a substantial capital outlay would provide a major boost to infrastructure development, public services, and state-level projects, creating a more enabling environment for economic growth. For Delhi, the budget offers opportunities to accelerate urban development, strengthen civic amenities, and invest in projects that directly benefit citizens.

CM Gupta highlighted that the budget also reflects a collaborative approach between the central and state governments, aiming to ensure that development funds reach projects that matter most to people. "Capital spending at this scale is vital for driving not just economic recovery, but long-term sustainable growth across the country," she said.

In addition to infrastructure, she expressed optimism that increased allocations would support education, healthcare, and social welfare initiatives, helping states enhance the quality of life for residents. The emphasis on modernizing cities, expanding connectivity, and strengthening industrial corridors aligns with Delhi's own priorities for urban planning and innovation.

CM Gupta also welcomed the government's continued focus on fiscal prudence alongside investment, noting that careful budgetary planning would help states manage resources efficiently while undertaking ambitious projects.
