Pune Porsche Case: Viral Video Shows Agarwals Celebrating After Bail; Victim's Father Demands Justice

A wave of public indignation has erupted following the emergence of footage depicting the Agarwal family celebrating the Supreme Court's decision to grant bail to Vishal Agarwal.

Agarwal is the father of the teenager allegedly behind the wheel of a Porsche that claimed the lives of two young engineers in May 2024.

The video, which has circulated widely on social media but remains independently unverified, shows a festive atmosphere inside what appears to be a local restaurant. To the upbeat strains of the classic Bollywood track "Bambai se aaya mera dost," the family is seen in high spirits.

The footage captures Agarwal adorned with garlands-one crafted from pink flowers and another composed entirely of high-denomination currency notes. A live band performs in the background as family members dance, with Vishal Agarwal and his wife being hoisted onto the shoulders of relatives. The minor son, who was allegedly driving the vehicle under the influence at the time of the crash, is seen participating in the festivities, while his mother also dances wearing a garland made of banknotes.

Suresh Koshta, the father of Ashwini Koshta-one of the engineers killed in the collision-spoke to the media with visible anguish, stating that it appears to be a practice in the family's social circle to celebrate after taking lives.

He argued that the family is mocking common citizens and suggested that the law itself is failing the public by providing the very loopholes used to avoid accountability. He further criticised the Supreme Court's leniency, suggesting that such rulings erode public faith in the judiciary and embolden criminals by removing the fear of legal consequences.

The incident has also entered the political fray, with Shiv Sena leader Priyanka Chaturvedi condemning the "rot" in governance and stating that while victims are forced to "run in circles" for justice, those with wealth are free to perform a "merry dance."

Online, the sentiment is equally vitriolic, with social media users pointing to the stark contrast between the priceless lives lost and the perceived immunity granted by the family's wealth. Many have questioned what faith a common person can have in a system where elites appear immune to the law.
