Akshay Kumar Claims Exclusive Rights To Hera Pheri 3, Issues Legal Warning

Akshay Kumar's production banner, Cape of Good Films LLP, has released a public notice asserting that it hsolds the exclusive worldwide rights to Hera Pheri 3. The company has also cautioned industry stakeholders against engaging with any individual or organisation claiming ownership or authority over the film without its written approval.

What Did Cape Of Good Films Claim?

Cape of Good Films is the sole entity authorised to produce, distribute, market, commercialise, and exploit Hera Pheri 3 across all existing and future platforms, technologies, and formats. The production house described its licence as irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide, and free from any encumbrances.

It advises them not to sign agreements, hold negotiations, or enter into business arrangements with any third-party claiming rights to the film unless they receive prior written authorisation from Cape of Good Films.

The notice further urges the industry to acknowledge Cape of Good Films LLP as the only legitimate rights holder for Hera Pheri 3. It also states that anyone choosing to disregard the warning and proceed with unauthorised dealings will do so entirely at their own risk. The company added that it reserves the right to pursue all legal remedies available to protect its interests.

Delays In The Upcoming Sequel

The legal notice arrives at a time when Hera Pheri 3 continues to face uncertainty behind the scenes. The much-awaited sequel has been caught up in a series of production setbacks, creative differences, and legal complications over the past few months.

Adding to the turmoil, director Priyadarshan recently announced his exit from the project. The filmmaker claimed that repeated instances of disrespect from producer Firoz Nadiadwala led him to step away from directing the film.

Initially, Hera Pheri 3 was expected to reunite the franchise's iconic trio, Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal.

In May 2025, Paresh Rawal surprised fans by announcing his departure from the film. Although the actor eventually rejoined the cast, the sequel has continued to be plagued by delays, production uncertainties, and an ongoing dispute over the film's rights.
