Mumbai Traffic Police Issue Advisory Ahead Of Ganpati Visarjan, Special Local Trains To Run

In preparation for the final day of the 10-day-long Ganeshotsav celebrations, a traffic advisory has been issued to facilitate smooth vehicular flow, and over 19,000 personnel, including officers, have been deployed to ensure the safety of citizens. Special local trains will also be operating on Mumbai's suburban railway network on the night of Anant Chaturdashi to accommodate passengers returning after immersing idols.

Similar security measures will be in place for Eid-e-Milad, which will be marked by organizing processions on Friday.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has stationed 1,337 lifeguards, with 1,035 assigned to 69 natural water bodies and 302 at approximately 200 artificial ponds. Additionally, 53 motorboats have been made available at natural water bodies, according to an official quoted by news agency PTI.

On Anant Chaturdashi, thousands of household and public Ganesh idols will be immersed at 73 locations, including Girgaon, Dadar, Juhu, Marve, and Aksa beaches.

The Ganeshotsav festivities commenced on September 19 and are celebrated with great enthusiasm in various parts of the country, with Mumbai being of particular significance. The city features pandals adorned with colossal Ganesha statues in various locations, and this year, the festival spanned from September 19 to September 29.

SPECIAL MUMBAI LOCAL TRAINS TO RUN ON LAST DAY OF GANESH PUJA

Around eighteen special train services are scheduled to operate on Mumbai's suburban railway network during the night of Anant Chaturdashi, which falls on September 28, marking the concluding day of the Ganapati festival. These trains are intended to accommodate passengers returning after the immersion of Ganesha idols.

According to a statement from the Central Railways, about ten suburban special trains will run between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Kalyan, Thane, and Belapur stations during the night bridging September 28 and September 29. Among these services, six will traverse the main line, connecting CSMT with Thane and Kalyan stations, while the remaining four will operate along the harbor line, linking CSMT with Belapur station at 12:05 am on September 29.

The Western Railway, on the other hand, will launch eight suburban special services running between Churchgate and Virar stations commencing at 12:15 am on September 29. In anticipation of substantial crowding at Charni Road station due to the immersion processions, the Western Railway has decided to halt all Churchgate-bound fast trains at all stations between 5 pm and 8:30 pm. Additionally, Churchgate-bound slow trains will not make stops at platform number two at Charni Road station from 5 pm to 10 pm, thereby alleviating congestion on the platforms.

On the occasion of Anant Chaturdashi, numerous household and public Ganesh idols will be immersed at 73 locations, including Girgaon, Dadar, Juhu, Marve, and Aksa beaches.

The municipal authorities in Mumbai have also made preparations for the immersion processions.
