Lucknow youth who fought ISIS, receives heroic welcome at home
According to a report in the Indian Express (read here) Abqati was studying at the Najaf University in July when clashes with the ISIS broke out in Iraq. Abqati then enrolled himself at a volunteering force that was trained to fight the ISIS.
Abqati was given one month's training to fight ISIS militants. Several Shia youths from Lucknow had volunteered and enrolled for the force but were denied permission by the government.
Abqati claimed that Iraqi Army regulars, the Sarai Salam army of influential Iraqi leader Muqtada al-Sadr, civilians and people from several countries had been selected to set up an anti-terrorism squad and guard vulnerable locations.
On returning home, Abqati said that the ISIS are stone hearted people who are against humanity and said that he would return back to fight the ISIS.
