Tear Gas At Protest Site? CJP Claims Police Tried To Wangchuk's Derail Protest Ahead Of Sansad Chalo March

As the nation is buzzing with the debate on the Cockroach Janata Party protest, there are fresh allegations from the protestors that unidentified persons linked to BJP and Delhi Police are likely to disrupt its Jantar Mantar protest by raising slogans.

However the tensions remain high after Sonam Wangchuk was forcefully taken from the protest site on Saturday morning.

It is known that Wangchuk was taken to the Safdarjung Hospital during his indefinite hunger strike.

The protesters made allegations in their post on X sayings, "30-40 goons" had allegedly entered the protest area to create mischief. It urged the supporters to identify and reject anyone making anti - India statements saying such people are not associated with Wangchuk or either CJP.

CJP alleges attempt to provoke trouble at Jantar Mantar

In a separate CJP Post - a photograph is shared where it showed a tear gas gun at the protest site. It signaled that the police presence has intensified around the agitation venue. However there was no official response on that image.

The protest site has been alarmed after the Wangchuk was removed forcefully on Saturday morning. Since then he has been kept at the hospital against his wishes. His message from Safdarjung, shared through his wife Gitanjali J Angmo, called on supporters to join a proposed Parliament march on July 20.

Sonam Wangchuk calls July 20 march 'second freedom movement'

Wangchuk shared a handwritten note on his X account calling the July 20th march as India's second freedom movement. He linked the protest to what he called "freedom from injustice" and "freedom from fear", referring respectively to alleged paper leaks and his alleged detention.

The note read: "20th July. India's second freedom movement. Freedom from injustice (like paper leaks). Freedom from fear (my illegal detention)." It also said, "March to the Parliament. Please make it a big success." The message was signed, "Sent through Gitanjali from my illegal detention at Safdarjung."

The March on 20 July will take place, as Sonam Sir has decided.

The CJP has called the Parliament march to demand accountability over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations. The party is also seeking reforms in the examination system and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Why the protest has drawn wider attention

As the agitation comes against the alleged paper leaks and irregularities in competitive examinations that tended to have serious consequences for aspirants especially those who take a drop after years of study and financial investment.

For many aspirants paper leak is not just another chance to do well but it is a fear of financial investment and hard work. Adding weight to the protest Wangchuk's presence turned the protest more visible since he joined the protest on June 28.

Jantar Mantar witnessed several protests in history and now it is a designated protest site. Security agencies usually increase deployment when crowds are expected to move from the protest site towards sensitive government areas.
