Chacaguasay-Ilbis allegedly arranged a meeting with the victim at his Airbnb on June 18. After reportedly suffocating her to death, he is accused of burying her body in a shallow grave in an upstate New York park, according to authorities cited by the New York Post.

The video, shared on X by Collin Rugg, depicts Chacaguasay-Ilbis carrying Toaquiza's body out of the residence. At that moment, a police cruiser is seen passing by, apparently unaware of the unfolding events.

The victim and the suspect were reportedly acquainted from their elementary school days in Ecuador. Chacaguasay-Ilbis illegally crossed the border in El Paso, Texas, in January 2023 and was released into the US due to detention space constraints.

Toaquiza also crossed the southern border illegally in June 2023 and was initially detained by Border Patrol in Lukeville, Arizona. She disclosed fears of returning to Ecuador due to threats from a former partner, although it remains unclear if Chacaguasay-Ilbis was involved. She was subsequently released pending a future court date and mentioned plans to travel to Chicago.

Surveillance footage captured Chacaguasay-Ilbis and Toaquiza entering the Airbnb together. He later surrendered to authorities after Toaquiza's death. Chacaguasay-Ilbis faces charges of second-degree murder and concealment of a human corpse. During his appearance in Syracuse City Court, he claimed inability to recall details of the alleged murder due to intoxication.
