US Cities on High Alert After Iran Strikes; Security Stepped Up in New York, Washington
In the wake of the strikes in Iran, US authorities have placed major cities on high alert, with New York and Washington issuing security advisories and ramping up deployments.
The New York Police Department (NYPD) announced that it is deploying additional personnel to safeguard key locations across the city, including religious, cultural, and diplomatic sites.

"We're closely monitoring the situation unfolding in Iran," the NYPD said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
"As a precaution, we are deploying additional resources to sensitive sites across New York City and working in coordination with our federal partners. We will continue to monitor for any potential impact to NYC," the statement added.
Earlier, Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) also stepped up the state of alert across the country following US strikes on Iran.
All areas of the country are now limited to only essential movement. Schools and workplaces will all be closed, with the only exceptions being for "essential sectors".
