‘Much Bigger Than Ceasefire’: Trump Blasts Macron, Exits G7 Over Israel-Iran Crisis

U.S. President Donald Trump has cut short his participation at the 2025 G7 Summit in Canada, leaving abruptly as the Israel-Iran conflict spirals into an all-out military confrontation. The White House confirmed that Trump's return to Washington was prompted by urgent developments in the Middle East, particularly direct exchanges of missile and drone attacks between Israel and Iran.

Trump's decision has not only shifted global attention to America's next move but also triggered sharp diplomatic debate. While all other G7 leaders, including France, Germany, and the UK, agreed on a joint statement calling for restraint and de-escalation, Trump refused to endorse it. Instead, he chose to break from the bloc's consensus, reinforcing his administration's hardline stance that Iran must never obtain nuclear weapons.

Trump s G7 Exit Amid Rising Tensions Between Israel And Iran

In a social media post from Truth Social shortly before his departure, Trump doubled down:
"AMERICA FIRST means many GREAT things, including the fact that IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!"

The U.S. President also responded fiercely to French President Emmanuel Macron's claim that he was leaving the summit to negotiate a ceasefire between Israel and Iran. Trump blasted Macron in a sharply worded post:

"Publicity seeking President Emmanuel Macron, of France, mistakenly said that I left the G7 Summit, in Canada, to go back to D.C. to work on a 'cease fire' between Israel and Iran. Wrong! He has no idea why I am now on my way to Washington, but it certainly has nothing to do with a Cease Fire. Much bigger than that. Whether purposely or not, Emmanuel always gets it wrong. Stay Tuned!"

Earlier that morning, Trump had also posted a separate, cryptic message making clear that his return to Washington was not about diplomacy but rather something far more critical:

"Leaving the G7 in Canada early. Heading back to Washington - much bigger than a Ceasefire! Watch what happens."

This second post further fueled speculation about a significant U.S. move in the Israel-Iran crisis - possibly military or strategic in nature.

While in Canada, Trump was scheduled to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum on the summit's final day. His sudden departure led to the cancellation of both meetings. G7 insiders say Trump's walkout also disrupted discussions on trade, tariffs, and defense cooperation.

Trump used the moment to criticize the value of the G7 itself, particularly slamming the exclusion of Russia since 2014 following the annexation of Crimea. He hinted at expanding the group to include nations like China - a suggestion met with silence from the other leaders.

The split over the Israel-Iran conflict underscores a deeper rift between the U.S. and its traditional Western allies. While the G7 partners emphasized a united front and diplomatic de-escalation, Trump asserted a confrontational, pro-Israel line. According to sources close to the administration, the U.S. is exploring "unconventional support measures" for Israel, while rejecting any push toward pressuring Israel into a ceasefire.

In the end, Trump's dramatic exit from the G7 summit and his fiery online messages reflect a larger strategic calculus. As tensions in the Middle East escalate, his refusal to endorse ceasefire diplomacy may shape not only regional dynamics but also America's global alliances.
