Twisha Sharma Death Case: AIIMS Submits 2nd Postmortem Report To CBI; Skin Tissue Found On Gym Belt; Source

In the latest dowry murder of Twisha Sharma case, the probe has reached an important stage after the AIIMS Delhi Medical board came up with its second post mortem report to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in a sealed cover. This report will be playing a vital role in the ongoing probe ordered by the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

One must know that the second postmortem was conducted following Twisha's family being concerned over the initial autopsy report.

AIIMS Examined Key Forensic Evidence

In one of the main questions before the medical board was - If the gymnastics belt with a metal ring was used in the alleged hanging , matched with the injuries found on Twisha Sharma's neck.

So in the initial postmortem report, doctors were unable to give an opinion on this as the material had not been presented before them earlier. Following directions from the Madhya Pradesh High court, the AIIMS Medical Board carried a detailed examination.

However, after the required tests, it is reportedly found the presence of skin tissue on the ligature material, that indicates that it matched the injury pattern. However the final findings have not been made public as the report has been submitted to the CBI.

High Court Ordered Fresh Postmortem

It was in the month of May, the Madhya Pradesh High Court ordered a fresh postmortem over the rising concerns on the autopsy report. After which AIIMS formed a five member medical member board to conduct the second postmortem report on May 24 and also inspected the location of the crime.

It is an 11 page forensic report submitted to the CBI on July 10. Based on the report the Dr. Sudhir Gupta, Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine at AIIMS, said the medical board carefully examined every aspect of the case before reaching its conclusion.

According to him, the panel studied the available evidence in detail and referred to both national and international forensic literature before preparing the report.

Without disclosing the report based on the court's order, Dr Gupta said that it provides a scientifically supported opinion that will assist the CBI investigation.

Background of the Case

Taking the reader to the background of the case, Twisha Sharma - daughter in-law of retired Principal District and Sessions Judge Giribala Singh, was found hanging at her matrimonial home in Bhopal earlier this year.

Twisha's family questioned the initial investigation and alleged irregularities. Seeking an independent probe from the Madhya Pradesh High Court, it ordered the second postmortem by AIIMS Delhi.
