Singapore Airlines Flight Faces Severe Turbulence: 1 Passenger Dead, Many Injured

Due to the severe turbulence caused by adverse weather conditions, one fatality occurred and several individuals sustained injuries. As per the reports, a Singapore Airlines flight en route from London to Singapore was forced to make an emergency landing at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport at 3:45 PM local time.

Efforts are being made to work with local authorities in Thailand to provide necessary medical assistance. Additionally, a team is being sent to Bangkok to offer further support.

Although Thai media reports suggested around 30 injuries, the airline did not specify the exact number of casualties, confirming only that there were injuries and one fatality among the 211 passengers and 18 crew on board the Boeing 777-300ER.

Medical personnel boarded the aircraft to assess injuries, but details regarding the number of injured passengers remained unconfirmed, with some uninjured passengers being deplaned.

The deceased passenger's identity has not been disclosed. Singapore Airlines emphasized its commitment to providing assistance to all passengers and crew, collaborating with local authorities in Thailand to offer necessary medical aid and dispatching a team to Bangkok for additional support.

Following the emergency landing, emergency crews from Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital were present on-site to aid and transfer injured passengers for medical treatment.

Videos circulated on the LINE messaging platform depicted a procession of ambulances heading to the scene at Suvarnabhumi Airport. Analysis of tracking data by FlightRadar24 and The Associated Press revealed that the aircraft, which had been cruising at an altitude of 37,000 feet, abruptly descended to 31,000 feet within three minutes, maintaining that altitude for approximately 10 minutes before rapidly descending and landing in Bangkok within half an hour.

This incident marks Singapore Airlines' first fatality since October 2000, when a plane crashed on a closed runway during takeoff in Taiwan, resulting in 83 fatalities. According to the Aviation Safety Network, Singapore Airlines has encountered a total of seven accidents to date.
