First a goof-up then an apology: Satya Nadella says 'Women should not ask for a raise'

Satya Nadella gets bashed up on Twitter
Seattle, Oct 10: Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella raised a few eyebrows on Thursday when he was speaking at a three-day conference in Phoenix, Arizona.

Speaking at the event Nadella was asked, how should women get ahead in the tech world to which he replied: "Women in technology should not ask for raises but have faith in system. It is not really about asking for the raise, but knowing and having faith that the system will actually give you the right raises as you go along."

Because that is good karma. It'll come back because somebody is going to know that's the kind of person that I want to trust, he added.

Following his comment, there was a huge uproar on Twitter as many criticised him for his sexist comments-

However hours after being bashed on the net, Nadella apologised for his comments and said that men and women should get equal pay for equal work
