Jillani to be sworn in Pakistan's chief justice

Islamabad, Dec 12: Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani will take oath as the new chief justice of Pakistan on Thursday, a media report said.

President Mamnoon Hussain will administer oath to Jillani at a ceremony to be held at the Presidency here, Geo News reported.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is also expected to attend the ceremony.

President Mamnoon Hussain will administer oath to Tassaduq Hussain Jillani.

Earlier, Jillani had been serving as the acting chief election commissioner, the report said.

Jillani will succeed Pakistan's longest serving Supreme Court chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, who retired Wednesday.
