Is It Blood Or Beauty? Iran’s Hormuz Island Beach Turns Red After Heavy Rain – Watch Viral Video
Multiple videos showing a beach in Iran turning a deep red after a heavy downpour have sparked a mix of awe and concern online. The unusual event, which some have called "blood rain," was filmed at Silver and Red Beach on Hormuz Island, leaving viewers both amazed and fearful of potential hazards.
The videos circulating on social media show how floodwater, running off the rocks, turned the coast into a glowing red, creating a striking waterfall. Tourists have flocked to the area to witness the rare sight, with one video showing a man wading through the red water, making it look almost like an AI-generated effect.
The red sand, visibly stained by the rain, also caught attention as it joined the coast, further adding to the eerie yet captivating visual. Reactions from viewers online varied. Some expressed fascination, with one person commenting, "This scene is really wonderful and special," while another added, "Is it really that red? Whatever beauty it is, it's unique." Others, however, found the sight unsettling, with comments like "It's more scary" and "I don't even want to see a place like this, even in the picture."
Despite widespread speculation that the phenomenon was due to unusual weather, the true cause is linked to the volcanic soil of Hormuz Island. According to the Daily Mail, the island's rich iron oxide content in the soil causes the red colour when mixed with water. The vibrant red soil is also a key resource in industries such as dyeing, glassmaking, and cosmetics, and even features in local cuisine for sauces and jams.
Hormuz Island is renowned for its diverse colourful landscapes, with the soil naturally changing hues, particularly at sunrise and sunset. The striking red beach is not a result of weather changes but a regular occurrence that can be seen year-round, thanks to the island's naturally magenta shoreline.
